EZ Press - Pressing Medium

Starting at: $5.90

Finally, a super easy and usable pressing medium for micas and pigments. This is the perfect solution for loose mineral powders and pigment colors: Eye Shadow, Eyeliner, Blush, Foundation and more.

After months of blending and trials we now have a formula that will offer all the effects and performance you need for a professional application with pressed minerals.

Pressing mediums will also add brilliance and staying power to your loose pigment due to the ability of the oils to combine and transfer equally and offer a long lasting application.

Our 2 ounce bottle goes a very long way, here is a description and How Too Use:

Take 1.5 teaspoons of loose pigment powder/makeup, place it in a dish deep enough to mix in the medium. To your powder add by drops from our EZ Prez (turn bottle over several times to mix prior to each use), do not squeeze the bottle, the drops will come out steadily on their own. Begin with 15 to 20 drops, using a mixing spatula begin to mix and pull to the sides of the jar incorporating the liquid and powder together. What you are looking for as an outcome is a crumble of powder, when you pull it together to the side of the dish with your spatula it should hold together easily.  Be careful not to over wet your powders, you only need it to hold when pushed together.

Once you reach this stage, mist a makeup pan with 91% alcohol (this is available at your local drug store). Add enough powder to cover the bottom, place a quarter or press the size of this over a piece of thick plastic and press evenly until firm.  Remove the plastic and add another layer and repeat the above instructions.

At this point you are ready to add the last layer to the palette, add your last layer and spread evenly. Now, this is the time you may want to use a hatch ribbon with the quarter on top of it to press, this will leave a professional looking finish on the top.

Allow this to set overnight, if you are in a hurry you can place the pan in the oven at 200* for about 30 minutes, turn off and let cool. You now have a ready to use pressed shadow , blush, etc powder.

This medium is great for pressing MAC pigments! Pressing them with plain alcohol only allows you to press them into solid form, you still have the fallout that gets everywhere. If you hate fallout like I do, this does the job beautifully. Comparing swatches on my hand right now, the pigment I pressed with EZ Prez is more dense, you can actually see the color and this is without primer! It is not overly creamy (when I think creamy I think pastey), it's light just like the powder but it sticks! And I know that applying pigments over other pigments is going to be great. Another thing that I should point out is that practically no fallout also means your palette is less messy. I find that mixing your pigments in the pan is harder, so you should mix them in another container; and as for leakage just make sure to wipe off the bottle opening on the edge of your container. A little always seems to get by though. Will be purchasing another bottle for the rest of my pigment samples.

Works with nyx by Kathy from Honolulu, HI USA on Aug 20, 2008

I'm glad I got this pressing medium because I have tons of pigments that I wanted to press. So far I tried a couple of the Nyx ultra pearl loose eyeshadows and it turned out great. I even had this one brand I had for a very long time (a company that no longer exist) and it pressed very well also. Next I will be doing some of the BE mineral eyeshadows and hopefully it'll press. It was frustrating at first (I added too much medium) the powder was hard to work with, I used my fingers to press the e/s down in the pan the first time but once I got the amount of medium to use, it got easy. I was having fun pressing them after that. If you have alot of loose e/s, I would really recommend you get this and try it out.
